Services Offered

The quickest, easiest, and most popular way to learn dances is through private instruction. At East Towne Ballroom, you will work directly with your instructor to master different styles.

Essentially, every dance studio uses a medal system of teaching. Bronze signifies a good competent level of dancing and everyone starts at the beginning by learning bronze steps. As you continue to improve, you will graduate to Silver, Gold and Open levels.

The instructors at East Towne teach American Rhythm, American Smooth, International Ballroom, International Latin and social dance styles. All of the different dances bring variety and character to your dancing.

American Smooth: Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz

American Rhythm: Cha-Cha, Rumba, Swing, Bolero, Mambo

International Ballroom: Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep

International Latin: Cha Cha, Samba, Rhumba, Jive, Paso Doble

Social Dances: Merengue, Hustle, Salsa, West Coast Swing, East Coast Swing

We can teach you any or all of these dances! We will tailor a custom plan to help you meet your goals and learn the types of dances you desire.

Frequently
Asked
Questions

Do I need a partner?

No! Our instructors will dance with you during private lessons. Do not be afraid to attend socials by yourself as well. Socials are great opportunities to meet new people and improve your dancing. If you do have a partner you can choose to take lessons together or individually. We love teaching both singles and couples!

How Often Should I Take Lessons?

When you are first starting out, it is always a good idea to take lessons consistently. At least one lesson, if not two a week is ideal. The more time in between lessons, the less confident you will be with your dancing. Stay sharp and on top of your dancing and make sure you are scheduling your lessons in advance!

Do you have social opportunities?

Yes! Special group classes and social dances change monthly. See our Facebook page or posted bulletins in the school for our special events. There are also other socials around the dance community that are held and are great opportunities to practice your dancing and enjoy a night out.

How should I dress and what shoes will I need?

Dancing should be a fun and comfortable experience for everyone. Wear something that you can move well in.

Wear shoes that are closed toed and have a back to them. The last thing you want is for your shoes to fall off when you are trying to dance. At the studio, we currently have ballroom and latin shoes for sale. Once you decide this is an activity you wish to continue with, proper dance shoes are helpful.

any parking recommendations?

We are located off of Broadway street close to the Public Market in downtown Milwaukee. This means street parking! There are 2 hour meter spots directly in front of the studio. You can also find street parking on the streets surrounding the building. When in doubt, circle the building once and see if you can get a spot.

There is also a public parking lot across the street from the studio (corner of Broadway and Michigan).
